Sustainability at Alma Boutique Hotel

At Alma Boutique Hotel, we are conscious of the challenges that the island faces in conserving its water supply and natural surroundings. The resort has invested in a number of initiatives to support the local community and conserve the natural surroundings, advocating for non-plastic use and strict waste recycling and composting.
The hotel likewise employs staff from the surrounding Jambiani village, training them to be better hoteliers.
The hotel also uses local farmers, fishermen and suppliers to source as much of our day-to-day operations needs as possible. Collaborating with the local Government, Shehia office, Alma Boutique Hotel supports the surrounding community endeavours buying seafood from the locals and suggesting sea excursions with the
traditional boats.
We committed, for a couple of years now, to importing veterinary medicine and food items to Zanzibar Animals Affection Society (ZAASO), a non-profit animal sanctuary and clinic based in Kianga, Zanzibar.
